I like these pics of Maliah a lot. The thighs look
heavenly. As an aside, it is interesting that
she is sleeping in most these photos. Y'alll do
know there are fetish sites devoted solely to
photos of women sleeping... just like these.
Anyway, images compliments of
Rita G Photography.
A funny thing has happened lately. I've gotten to a
point that I hardly want to post anything on the blog
unless I had something to do with its creation. I'll
Urban modeling "news" can basically be broken down
into three categories: 1) Twitter candid pics by well
known to semi-well known urban models and pseudo
celebrities, 2) "professional" urban model photos,
consisting of the usual overly retouched, seamless
backdrop, unoriginal stuff aspiring models and
websites proudly trot out like it's something to
celebrate (this includes scans from the popular urban
magazine photos like BlackMen and SHOW), and 3) mass
quantity, message-board anonymous booty posts (with
or without faces attached). None of these categories
interests me anymore.
Blogs like mine tend to post the "highlights" of the
foregoing categories. Some of them, like Dynasty
Series and my site, also feature original content.
But producing shoots is time consuming and expensive.
I don't think any of the urban blogs are bringing in
PerezHilton.com money that can make doing these
shoots consistently worthwhile. So that leaves us
with having to recycle that other stuff. I don't
wanna do that anymore.
I've basically outgrown urban modeling as it stands
today and moved to a place where what appeals to me
is so esoteric*, only a handful of people (the people
who come here) can even appreciate it. In the coming
days I'll be posting some new pics of Carol Seleme
Daniel, a girl is as beautiful as she is creative and
that really comes thru in her pix. Sabrina Hunter is
also in town so hopefully I'll get a chance to shoot
with her. But otherwise, you guys might have to buck
up for some long dry spells, lol. Oh, and I like the
pic of Maliah below, so that's not offered
as an example of what's wrong.
P.S. How many more posts like this can I do, lol?
*Only by urban modeling standards...
Tonight I picked up Taschen Book's "Urban Girls,"
which is a hard bound "art book" collection of
the photography of Howard Huang. Huang
specializes in urban model photography for
magazines like BlackMen. I'll just say this
right off the top: I like Huang's work. I like
his use of color and his lighting. While there
is much about Huang's photography that, on the
surface, looks like SHOW magazine's stuff, it's
more intricate and better thought out in my
Bria Myles is on the cover of
this book, which is also sold in stores like
Barnes & Noble. The paper
stock is quite heavy and the printing is top
notch. It really is a beautiful tome which is as
pleasing to the touch as the eyes. You'll also
find high quality reproductions and outtakes
from shoots with some of your favorite models,
like the ones featured below of Maliah and Jessikah. Overall,
I'd give this book a high recommend. It's a good
look for urban modeling. (Click photos to
These lovely scans come to us courtesy of my fellow
blogger BlackJackSkanz. In fact, I
invite you to visit his blog to see the other
three images from this set that I didn't post
from this set. (Click to enlarge)
Ever since her website opened anew and
she started dropping DVDs, Maliah has been slowly
creeping into the position of number one urban
model. (Her recent affiliation with Drake didn't
hurt matters.) With this new issue of Smooth,
her position may be cemented as top banana for
2010. Maliah has always been one of my favorites
and I certainly think she deserves the top spot
over someone like Rosa. While the urban mags are
hardly selling like they used to, I would go so
far as to say this one may become a collector's
item in another year or so. My only complaint
with Maliah is her pushing the stripper agenda -
not the best look for the genre or
representation for young girls looking to do
this. (Click to enlarge pics)
This has been a strong week for some of the mainstays
in the industry. First that surprise Khrysti cover
and now these candid shots of Maliah. The only thing that
could top this off is some unseen classic Mel
Ford. Click here for one additional
Maliah shot that's too hot for Google Adsense.
This is the result of over 9,000 votes on
BlackJackSkanz - one of the
best known websites for urban models out there.
A couple interesting notes: 1) Seems like Suelyn
should be higher - she had a great '09, 2) Seems like
Cubana and Vanessa should be lower; a testament to
the power of a large Twitter following, and 3)
Suleika's position seems well deserved.
Now that she's got a regular column in Smooth, she gets a new
picture in each issue that comes out. Nice.
Expect an update to this post later with the two
pager. This issue Maliah writes: "Women are
ultra-competitive. If we think that there's a
woman who's better than us, then we'll do
whatever we can to beat her." No news there. I
always suspected as much, but it was nice of
Maliah to confirm it.
It's no secret Maliah Michel is one of my
favorite models (she was number 9 on my list of
Top 10 Urban
Models), and apparently she's one of Sandy's
favs as well, since this is the second
time she's been on the cover of Smooth Magazine. There's a
bunch of great pictures of her in this issue and
she also did an editorial piece in it, similar
to the type Melyssa Ford and Esther have done in
the past in Smooth. The subject matter is how to
be a good stripper, which is a little strange. I
guess Smooth figures there's no mystery about
the fact that a lot fo urban models strip, so
they might as well get someone knowledgeble to
drop some science about it.
Anyway, if you like Maliah this issue is a must have.
There's a number of pics that I didn't scan (just
being lazy) so definitely check it out. I'm sure
BlackJackSkanz will give this
a much better treatment once he gets it. In the
meantime, enjoy some Maliah.
Maliah's new DVD, "No Turning Back," is a must
have for any diehard Maliah fan. She spends a
decent portion of the DVD educating the viewer
about fake booty versus real booty, which is
probably needed in today's market of plastic
blow up dolls. After this clip, in which Maliah
makes it pretty clear that her ass is real, I'm
sure most people will be convinced.
